Blue Tang

Paracanthurus hepatus

The blue tang, also known as the regal tang or palette surgeonfish, is famous for its bright blue body, yellow tail, and association with the character “Dory” in Finding Nemo. These vibrant fish zip through coral reefs in schools, feeding on algae and keeping reef ecosystems in balance. Their sharp spines near the tail can be used for self-defense. Though eye-catching, blue tangs are sensitive and require pristine water conditions in captivity.
