Despite their sharp teeth and fierce appearance, sand tiger sharks are actually quite docile and slow-moving. These large, bulky sharks often hover near the seafloor or swim gently through aquariums, making them popular with visitors. Unlike most sharks, sand tigers gulp air to regulate buoyancy, allowing them to float motionlessly in the water. Their hunting strategy is stealth over speed, preying on small fish and crustaceans.
